GERLACH, Nev. (AP) — Nevada tourism officials are opening up shop on the edge of the Black Rock Desert to welcome travelers to Burning Man and help promote other interesting places and events in the state.
The Nevada Division of Tourism's TravelNevada booth opens at noon Friday on Main Street in Gerlach next to the office for Friends of the Black Rock-High Rock Desert.
Gerlach sits on the south edge of the desert where the weeklong annual counterculture festival begins Monday about 120 miles north of Reno.
Tourism officials will be handing out garbage bags, reusable "shopper" bags, hand wipes and other useful gear for the more than 60,000 people expected to attend.
The Nevada-branded tent dubbed "Hallelujah!" Station will remain open until 3 p.m. Sunday.
