Elko County To Consider Injunction Against Federal Government

Elko County is considering fighting the federal government's land use plans to protect the sage grouse.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports the county commission will meet Wednesday and decide on whether to take part in an injunction set to be filed by the Nevada Minerals Alliance.

The injunction would seek to prevent the federal government's plan from going forward.

The Nevada Minerals Alliance contends the proposal is a violation of federal law and would actually do more harm than good.

In its proposal, the government says in part the measures would "offer the highest level of protection for the sage grouse."
