LAS VEGAS (AP) — Elected officials and a company executive plan to mark the Las Vegas opening of the Iron Yard, a tech training school for entry-level software development students.
Mayor Carolyn Goodman and Councilman Bob Coffin are due to take part with Iron Yard co-founder Eric Dodds in a 6:30 p.m. Wednesday ceremony at the facility on South Casino Center and Charleston boulevards.
City officials say the training center could help fill a need for local entry-level code developers.
The Iron Yard was founded in 2012 and is headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina.
The Las Vegas Arts District campus is one of 20 in cities including London, Atlanta, Houston, Salt Lake City and Washington, D.C.
Officials say the tuition-funded program in Las Vegas is licensed by the Nevada Commission on Private Postsecondary Education.
