Bo Jackson To Host Home Run Derby For Fantasy Players

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Bo Jackson is heading back to the baseball diamond to teach some armchair managers how to swing for the fences.

The 1989 All-Star outfielder and 1990 Pro Bowl running back plans to host a home run derby in Las Vegas for 90 fantasy baseball players taking part in a $1 million fantasy baseball championship for daily fantasy site Fanduel.

The derby is a prelude to the World Fantasy Baseball Championship, which Fanduel is holding at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas hotel-casino in Las Vegas on Aug. 22.

The championships boast a prize pool of $4 million, built through wagers made by fantasy players in smaller qualifying tournaments.

The championship, like other games on the site, challenges fantasy players to select a lineup of hitters and pitchers based on a salary cap, awarding points for stats accumulated in MLB games.

Jackson says he plans to hand out the winning check at the end of the tournament.
