Las Vegas Traffic Deaths Up, Crashes Down From 2014

 

LAS VEGAS (AP) — According to police reports, traffic deaths have risen while the number of crashes has gone down this year in comparison to 2014.

KSNV-TV reports statistics released Monday show that traffic deaths from January through May have increased by nearly 20 percent in comparison to last year. Total crashes have decreased more than 23 percent in the same time period.

The report shows there were 43 traffic deaths from Jan.1 through May 26. There were 35 traffic deaths during that time last year.

The number of crashes from January through May totaled more than 5,000 compared with close to 6,600 during the same time last year.

This year's fatalities include 16 pedestrians, 12 drivers, 8 motorcyclists, 4 bicyclists and 3 passengers.
