Driver Dies After Pulling Car In Front Of Amtrak

ELKO, Nev. (AP) — Passengers on an Amtrak train from Chicago to San Francisco were delayed after a car pulled onto the tracks resulting in a collision that killed the car's driver.

Elko County Sheriff's Sgt. Doug Fisher tells the Elko Daily Free Press that the crash was intentional. The driver's identity has not been released.

The California Zephyr was headed west toward Elko around 2:30 a.m. when it struck the car outside of Wells. No train passengers or crew were injured.
