Sen. Harry Reid, D-NV announced Thursday that his longtime chief of staff, David Krone, is leaving. Krone has been a loyal and fiercely competitive supporter of Reid.
As KNPR's State of Nevada learned a few months ago in an interview with the New York Times, Krone is known as a combative operative on Capital Hill. He even once clashed with President Barack Obama, breaking in on what was supposed to be a private conversation between Obama and Reid.
David Krone was a cable television executive when he met Sen Reid in 1992. He joined Reid's office as chief of staff in 2011. The two men are very close.
Former Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Drew Willison will replace Krone as Reid's chief of staff.
