Sen. Harry Reid Interviewed In Menendez Probe, Article Says

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV., was interviewed by federal investigators a year ago as they investigated corruption charges against Democratic New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez, according to an article in Politico.

Politico quotes sources in its coverage of the interview that happened last spring. Neither the Justice Department nor the senator’s office commented on the interview.

The DOJ is expected to file corruption charges against Menendez in connection with a relationship he had with a wealthy Florida eye surgeon. According to court papers, prosecutors are looking at whether Menendez did political favors for Dr. Salomon Melgen.

Menendez denies the allegations.

"Let me be very clear — very clear: I have always conducted myself appropriately and in accordance with the law," the senator said during a news conference Friday. "Every action that I and my office have taken for the last 23 years that I have been privileged to be in the United States Congress has been based on pursuing the best policies for the people of New Jersey and of this entire country."

Reid’s involvement in the case is only as a witness, Politico reports.
