Republican Sen. Dean Heller today helped Democrats block a bill that would have funded the Department of Homeland Security, while including an amendment wiping out President Obama’s recent unilateral actions on immigration.
He was the only Senate Republican to vote against advancing the $40 billion spending bill, which would have also defunded President Obama’s earlier measures protecting millions of immigrants in the country illegally.
It was defeated 51-48, with 60 votes needed to advance it.
