Health Officials To Brief Lawmakers On Measles Outbreak

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — State health officials plan to brief the state legislature on the state's recent measles outbreak.

Nevada Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tracey D. Green and health department head Romaine Gilliland will update legislators about the state's response to the measles outbreak on Friday during an Assembly Committee on Health and Human Services meeting.

Committee chairman James Oscarson said the meeting will be mostly informational and give legislators a chance to ask questions and gather information about the outbreak.

Two confirmed measles cases and two probable cases have been reported over the last week throughout the state.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said an estimated 105 measles cases nationwide — mostly in California — have been linked to visits to Disneyland in December or exposure to infected people.
