Minor Earthquake Shakes Southern Utah, No Injuries Or Damage

RICHFIELD, Utah (AP) — A minor earthquake shook parts of south-central Utah overnight but there have been no reports of injuries or property damage.

The University of Utah Seismograph Station says the quake with a magnitude 3.0 hit in the Sevier Valley at 12:27 a.m. Thursday.

It was centered about a mile west of Richfield and had a depth of about 5 miles.

More than 40 people in the area reported on the university's web site that they felt the rumbling.

Scientists say that since 1962, a total of 32 earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater have occurred within 16 miles of the epicenter of Thursday's quake. The biggest was 5.2 in 1967.
