The Las Vegas Wranglers minor league hockey team went out of business this morning, unable to find a home after the Orleans decided not to renew their lease.
Owner Gary Jacobs said the Wranglers are “voluntarily withdrawing” membership from the ECHL. In a letter to the team's Facebook page, he cited the team's ongoing difficulties finding a new home. At one time a move to the Plaza hotel-casino looked set, but the economics didn’t work out.
The team entered the ECHL in 2003. They suspended operation for this season while team executives searched for a new venue.
