Taxable Sales In Nevada Up In October

State officials say Nevada's taxable sales rose nearly 5 percent in October compared with the same month a year ago, largely thanks to more spending at restaurants and car dealerships.

The Nevada Department of Taxation reported Monday that taxable sales totaled $4.1 billion. The state collected about $320 million in taxes for the off those sales. That's an increase of 8 percent year-over-year.

Bar and restaurant sales of $924 million were up almost 8 percent in October, while spending at car and parts dealers rose 9 percent to $453 million. Those two categories account for the largest share of sales in Nevada.
