Chief Operating Officer, Sam Nazarian, Out At SLS Las Vegas

The chief operating officer for the SLS Las Vegas is out, according to an article in the Los Angeles Times.

The article says Sam Nazarian gave up control of his hotel to the principal investor, following the Nevada Gaming Board’s recommendation that he not get a gaming license.

Instead, it said he should be given a limited license.

The board cited recent cocaine use and a situation with a stalker that was not handled well.

The Nevada Gaming Commission followed the recommendation Thursday.

Before stepping down, Nazarian was going to mainly focus on the hotel and nightclub side of the business, while SLS President Scott Kreeger focused on the gaming.

Nazarian started by creating some of the hottest nightclubs in Los Angeles, then used that success to buy hotels in Beverly Hills and Miami.

The SLS Las Vegas was created from the bones of the Sahara Hotel and Casino, opening at the end of August after a multi-million dollar refurbishing.
