Should Nevada Ban Hunting With Hounds?

Nevada’s fourth bear hunt began last week, and some hunters are accompanied by floppy-eared hounds with a nose for prey.

Using dogs to hunt bear is still legal in Nevada, in spite of efforts by animal rights activists. Some say that using dogs is not only an unsporting way to catch bears, but it’s dangerous for the hounds.

But hunters say that using dogs can be safe with the right precautions, and in some cases is actually a more humane way to hunt.
