Mt. Charleston Flash Flooding Damages Homes

Flash flooding caused damage to several homes on Mount Charleston and left about 100 residents without water due to a damaged pipeline. Mud and debris flowed -- in up to 5-foot-deep flood waters in the mountain's Rainbow Canyon. Heavy rain and hail damaged utility lines and several homes. It also left part of Rainbow Canyon Boulevard impassable and a portion of Highway 157 north of Las Vegas closed.

The area is especially prone to flooding after a wildfire burned there last summer. Clean up efforts are underway.
