CCSD Teachers

Earlier this year school official's in Rhode Island fired the entire teaching staff at Central Falls High School because of poor student performance. In Antioch, California much the same happened in May of this year when at least 18 teachers lost their jobs because of poor performance on standardized tests. In both cases many pointed out that it's all too easy to blame teachers when schools and students fail.

But is that a fair assessment? We continue our summer series on education with teachers. We talk with three teachers from different grades in the Clark County School District about the challenges they face during the school year and what they are concerned and hopeful about as the 2010-2011 school year is set to begin.

Melissa Russell, K-5 art teacher, Whitney Elementary School
