Sunrise Children’s Hospital in Las Vegas has hired Nevada’s only pediatric ear, nose, and throat specialist.

Dr. Lenhahn Tran comes to Nevada after 25 years of practicing medicine in Hawaii.

She specializes in complex airway, ear and sinus disorders. Her arrival is an important step in the launch of Sunrise Health System's new outpatient ear, nose, and throat clinic.

Previously, Tran said, the state’s adult ENTs were treating pediatric patients. And children with cases too complex to treat in-state were forced to leave.

Now, some of those children won’t have to. Tran hopes the positive effects will be system-wide.

“[Traveling] is very difficult for families, to uproot themselves to go to a new place, where they don’t have a lot of support," she said. "And it is very expensive for healthcare systems to shoulder the costs of transport and treatment.”

Tran expects to start seeing patients the week of December 15.

Originally an intern with Desert Companion during the summer and fall of 2022, Anne was brought on as the magazine’s assistant editor in January 2023.
