LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police in Las Vegas say a bicyclist is dead and a suspected impaired driver is in custody after a fatal hit-and-run crash.

They say a 60-year-old bicyclist was struck from behind by a vehicle about 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Police say the man suffered substantial injuries after being ejected from the bicycle and later died at a hospital. His name hasn't been released yet.

Police say the person driving the vehicle involved in the fatal crash fled the scene but witnesses gave police the license plate number and vehicle description.

Police say 34-year-old Tyrrell Smith showed signs of impairment and was arrested for the suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.
