Federal Funds Being Used To Ramp Up Coronavirus Testing In Nevada

Gov. Steve Sisolak announced COVID-19 testing and contact tracing will be ramped up in Nevada using federal funds.

The Legislature’s Interim Finance Committee approved $96 million from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to expand the testing and tracing.

The governor said a statewide community testing and outbreak management strategy would include hiring 250 workers and working with two companies to “modernize and streamline case investigation.”

He appointed Nevada State Public Health Laboratory Director Dr. Mark Pandori as the state’s Chief of Testing, where he will “help direct and coordinate Nevada’s immediate and long-term testing strategy.”
