Las Vegas Police Union Official And Detective Are Indicted

LAS VEGAS — A Las Vegas police union director and a veteran detective have been accused of providing urine samples to ensure that a woman wouldn't fail a court-ordered drug test.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Thursday that Detective Lawrence Rinetti Jr. was indicted along with Michael Ramirez, the head of governmental affairs for the Las Vegas Police Protective Association.

The newspaper reports Rinetti was arrested late last year after an investigation determined he stole drugs to give to the woman he had used as a source. Rinetti is no longer with the Metropolitan Police Department, where he worked since January 2006.

A judge has issued a $100,000 arrest warrant for Rinetti and a $10,000 warrant for Ramirez.
