Red Flag Exercises Get Underway At Nellis Air Force Base

The U.S. Air Force’s air-to-air combat training – known as Red Flag exercises - are set to get underway Monday in the skies over Southern Nevada.

The exercises run through Feb. 14.

Dozens of aircraft are scheduled to depart from Nellis Air Force Base twice a day and remain in the air for up to five hours during the training flights.

The exercises provide airmen and ground crews an opportunity to train in advanced combat-like situations at the Nevada Test and Training Range north of Las Vegas.

Participants often include air forces from both United States and allied nations.
