SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah's unemployment rate has dropped, with state officials saying April's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 2.9 percent was down from 3 percent in March.

The Department of Workforce Services monthly report released Friday says Utah's nonfarm payroll employment for April grew by an estimated 3.2 percent, adding 48,600 jobs to the economy since April 2018.

According to the department, April's unemployment rate is the lowest for since December 2007 and reflects a combination of strong job growth.

All 10 of the private sector's industry groups measured in the establishment survey posted net job increases in April, with the largest increase recorded by leisure and hospitality with 9,000 additional jobs.
