President's Budget Includes Money For Yucca Mtn.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that President Trump’s budget proposal for the coming fiscal year will include $116 million for the Department of Energy to restart the licensing process for Yucca Mountain to become a nuclear waste repository.

The proposal is similar to items in the president’s first two budgets, which were dropped by Senate Republicans in both cases.

Last week, members of Nevada’s congressional delegation filed legislation pertaining to Yucca Mountain.

Senators Jacky Rosen and Catherine Cortez Masto and  Representatives Susie Lee, Mark Amodei and Steven Horsford, introduced the Jobs, Not Waste Act, which would slow or halt any action on the Yucca Mountain site.
