Ruben Kihuen Defends City Council Bid

Ruben Kihuen is defending his bid to run for a Las Vegas City Council seat after critics said the former congressman shouldn’t run following the allegations of sexual misconduct that surfaced against him last year.

Kihuen decided not to run for re-election after the House Ethics Committee found that he violated the congressional code of conduct for making unwanted advances toward women during his congressional campaign.

After announcing his intentions to run for city council, an opposition campaign called “No Means No, Ruben,” was launched which was supported by other top Democrats in the state.

In a statement to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Kihuen said he issued a sincere apology last year and received the lightest form of action by Congress.
