Lake Mead Reopens Trails Closed During Summer Months

Today marks the official change in seasons for Lake Mead and Red Rock.

Certain trails and areas that have been closed for the summer months have reopened.

At Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Goldstrike Canyon and White Rock Canyon Trails will reopen.

The park service started closing the trails several years ago after a string of rescues and heat-related deaths in the area.

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area will also close the scenic loop drive an hour earlier at 7 p.m. starting today.
