Air Force Unveils Annex Plans For Desert National Wildlife Refuge

The Air Force has unveiled its final plan to annex more than 300,000 acres of the Desert National Wildlife Refuge.

The plan would mean blocking public access to more than 275,000 acres of land to increase the range’s training capacity for combat exercises.

Environmentalists, hunters, off-road enthusiasts and tribal groups have all come out against the idea, which they say will endanger wildlife, cut off access to public land and hurt rural recreation economies.
