UNLV Faculty, Staff Go Through Active Shooter Training

Faculty and staff at UNLV underwent training on handling an active shooter situation Wednesday.

The training was part of an administrative development day on campus.  KLAS-TV reports that the training lasted about 45 minutes, and it was geared toward being aware of potential threats while also being ready for worst-case scenarios.

Students and faculty have a smart-phone application called ‘Rebel Safe,’ and there are campus phones available, with more slated to be installed because of additional funding.

UNLV Police say they hope to have 10 new phone cameras on campus by the end of this month.  They also plan to add 100 closed-circuit cameras.
