RENO, Nev. (AP) — More residents are returning to their homes north of Reno following evacuations because of a large wildfire near Pyramid Lake. But more than two dozen remain holed up at a Red Cross shelter that's continuing to provide services and supplies to evacuees.
Red Cross spokeswoman Cynthia Delatorre said Wednesday the shelter in the Palomino Valley is housing 27 residents. She says several more are staying in recreational vehicles on the property and meals are being provided to 30 to 35 people.
The fire has burned 74 square miles and remains 31 percent contained.
Fire officials say the blaze damaged several power poles Tuesday.
At least two homes have been damaged or destroyed along with 41 outbuildings or vehicles.
David Radonski, 34, of Reno was arrested on arson charges Tuesday accusing him of starting the fire Friday.
