LAS VEGAS (AP) — A coalition of Nevada law enforcement unions has endorsed U.S. Sen. Dean Heller for re-election.
The Republican senator's office announced Thursday that he'd won the backing of the Nevada Law Enforcement Coalition, which represents more than 10,000 officers in the state.
Coalition representative Mike Ramirez says in a statement that Heller has helped bring resources to police and other law enforcement officers that helped cut the backlog of untested rape kids, prevent drug abuse and more.
The coalition has also endorsed Democrat Steve Sisolak for governor.
Heller is facing a tough re-election challenge from Democratic Rep. Jacky Rosen. Rosen's campaign spokesman Stewart Boss noted that the National Association of Police Organizations has given Rosen the highest rating of any member of the state's congressional delegation.
