Several thousand Nevada residents from El Salvador will likely face deportation in September 2019 under a new Trump Administration directive to end their Temporary Protected Status.
According to the Center for American Progress, about 6,300 Nevada residents are TPS holders from El Salvador, Honduras and Haiti.
The Las Vegas Sun reportsabout 4,800 of those TPS recipients are Salvadoran, and are parents to about 5,200 U.S. citizens. All of Nevada’s Democratic delegates in Congress issued statements condemning Trump’s directive yesterday, with Representative Dina Titus saying she’s co-sponsoring legislation to help those with the protected status.
