Reno-Based Company Provides Temporary Solution To Tonopah's Ambulance Problem

A Reno-based company providing ground ambulance services will fill in temporarily for Tonopah’s volunteer ambulance service.

The Pahrump Valley Times reports that Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority has a contract to provide pre-hospital care and transport through November 27. 

Nye County Commissioner Lorinda Wichman, whose district includes Tonopah, said the arrangement is temporary and said she hopes it will lead to a permanent solution.

The arrangement is the latest challenge Tonopah has faced in providing medical care. 

The Nye Regional Medical Center closed in August 2015 because of financial problems, and the town still lacks a full-time physician and an emergency room.
