Reno Planning Commission To Vote on Re-imagine Reno Proposal

A nearly three-year process to update Reno’s master plan enters the home stretch Wednesday night, when the city’s planning commission votes on the “Reimagine Reno” proposal.

Work on the overhaul of the city’s master plan began in early 2015 and incorporated extensive public outreach through surveys and focus groups.

The new plan aims to address a blanket of issues facing the fast-growing city, including transportation policies, water resources, and expansion of the UNR campus.

Should the planning commission okay the new master plan, it will go before the city council for approval and the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Agency for review.

The city’s population has grown by 50 percent since the master plan was last updated in 1997.
