CCSD Institutes Hiring Freeze Because Of Budget Shortfall

The Clark County School District is now under a hiring freeze thanks to a budget shortfall that could hit $80 million.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that in a memo sent to principals by Chief Financial Officer Jason Goudie and Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky layoffs are expected because of the shortfall. The layoffs could happen even though the district is short hundreds of teachers.

The memo said the downsizing is expected in October and it will likely impact all departments and schools in the district.
