Hammargren House Faces Foreclosure

A Las Vegas landmark could be on the verge of disappearing.

Artifacts stored at former Lt. Gov. Lonnie Hammargren's home in the eastern part of the Valley are up for sale as he attempts to fight foreclosure, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The house is legendary for its collection of Nevada memorabilia, and has been open to the public every Nevada Day weekend as a museum for more than 20 years.

Some of Hammargren's collection will be sold at auction, while some is going to an antiques store in Downtown Las Vegas.

Over the years, Hammargren bought houses to the north of his main home to help store his collection, which continued to grow.

Those two other properties are fully paid for, but the original property is the one under foreclosure.

No word yet as to when items will be up for sale, or how much money is need to save the threatened home.
