Marathon Will Close Some LV Streets Sunday

The Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon and Half Marathon return to Las Vegas this weekend, with four events, mostly along Las Vegas Boulevard, spread over Saturday and Sunday.  Organizers expect about 45,000 runners, plus family and friends. Fun for them, but potential traffic headaches for everyone else, especially on Sunday.

On Sunday, the 10-kilometer race begins at 4 p.m.; the marathon and half-marathon at 4:30 p.m. There will be rolling closures of various streets, including Las Vegas Boulevard, from 2:30 to 11:30 p.m.

Traffic won't be able to cross the boulevard until runners have cleared the area. Several Interstate 15 freeway ramps will be closed. A few other streets in Las Vegas and North Las Vegas will be also be closed at times.
