Las Vegas Police: Man Shot By 3 Officers After Chase Had A Gun

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police say three officers shot and killed an armed man who refused to surrender following a chase into an apartment complex in a neighborhood east of the Las Vegas Strip.

Las Vegas police Capt. Matt McCarthy told reporters the man shook off the effects of a stun gun and refused to show his hands when officers confronted him a little after 2 a.m. Tuesday near Katie Avenue and Cambridge Street.

McCarthy says the man had his hands behind his back and reached for a gun before the three officers opened fire.

Las Vegas police Officer Michael Rodriguez says the incident began minutes earlier, with a vehicle stop on Karen Avenue east of Maryland Parkway.

The names of the man who was killed and the officers weren't immediately made public.
