North Las Vegas Police Officer Fatally Shoots Man At Park

LAS VEGAS (AP) — An officer with the North Las Vegas Police Department fatally shot a man at a city park after authorities said he threatened to shoot himself and walked toward police with a gun raised.

The department says officers responded to a call Monday of a man with a gunshot wound at Craig Ranch Regional Park. Police say the man pulled out a gun and threatened to kill himself when officers arrived.

Spokesman Alex Cuevas says negotiators spoke with the man for several hours, but communication eventually fell through and the man raised his gun. Cuevas said one officer shot the man.
