National Group Jumps Into Nevada Congressional Race

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A major Democrat-leaning PAC is jumping into a crowded congressional primary in southern Nevada.

The Democracy for America political action committee announced Monday that it's endorsing former Assemblywoman Lucy Flores in the Democratic primary race for Nevada's 4th Congressional District.

The PAC's chairman Jim Dean said in a statement that the group endorsed Flores because of her progressive stances on raising the minimum wage and opposition to President Barack Obama's fast-tracked trade deal.

Current Rep. Cresent Hardy shocked political watchers by defeating incumbent Steven Horsford in the Democrat-heavy district in 2014. Horsford elected not to run for the seat in March.

State Sen. Ruben Kihuen and longtime community advocate Susie Lee are also running in the Democratic primary. Former Assembly speaker John Oceguera is also considering entering the race.
