CARSON CITY (AP) — Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval's veto total is up to four this session while he's signed nearly 500 bills.
Sandoval opted Tuesday to veto SB296, which capped the amount of punitive damages a plaintiff can seek in a defective product case.
He rejected SB183, which would have loosened rules at the Nevada Transportation Authority and allowed more taxi and limo companies to enter the market.
He also turned down SB161, which would have limited product defect lawsuits to manufacturers and would have largely absolved sellers of liability.
Sandoval signed 71 bills on Tuesday, including measures allowing local governments to renegotiate union contracts during fiscal emergencies, audit class-size reduction initiatives, reduce public employee pension payouts and provide funding to attract high-quality charter school management organizations to Nevada.
