CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada lawmakers have passed the first of several proposed changes to the state's collective bargaining law.
Assembly members voted unanimously to approve SB 158 on Wednesday. The measure passed on a 19-1 vote in the Senate in April.
The bill would require governments to publicly publish a copy of a proposed collective bargaining agreement three days before a public hearing on the agreement.
Supporters said the measure would lead to more transparency and give members of the public the ability to review collectively bargained agreements.
Democratic Assembly Floor Leader Marilyn Kirkpatrick said she reluctantly supported the bill but thought agreements between non-union public employees should be made public as well.
The measure now goes to Gov. Brian Sandoval's desk.
