BOULDER CITY, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say a man shot and killed overnight by Boulder City police officers began firing a weapon when he was instructed to show his hands.
Las Vegas police are assisting the investigation of what Boulder City Police Chief Bill Conger called the first police officer-involved shooting in Boulder City in a decade.
KVVU-TV Fox 5 reports the officers were investigating a report of a disturbance or gunshots about 10:30 p.m. Sunday in a neighborhood near 5th Street and Avenue A.
Police say the officers found the man outside an apartment complex, and opened fire when he fired shots.
The man was pronounced dead at University Medical Center in Las Vegas.
Conger didn't immediately respond to messages from The Associated Press.
Boulder City is about 25 east of Las Vegas.
