LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 6-year-old girl and her grandmother were killed after a car crashed into a Las Vegasbus stop.
Seven pedestrians were near the bus shelter during the 2:30 p.m. crash on Monday, when a Volvo S60 going east on Sahara Avenue went over the south curb at South Maryland Parkway.
Police said 20-year-old Leonardo Ruesga of Las Vegas drove through the area without stopping.
Ruesga faces charges of driving under the influence involving death and failure to stop in a fatal crash.
An 18-month-old girl in a stroller was hit and hospitalized. She was later released.
The 58-year-old grandmother and the granddaughter were mowed down and later died at the hospital.
Authorities said a witness followed the car to an apartment, where Ruesga and his passenger were hiding.
