Sagebrush to Sandstone: Poetry Workshop with Saretta Morgan
Sagebrush to Sandstone: Poetry Workshop with Saretta Morgan
Note: this event is on March 28, but registration closes on March 23.
Every migration season, billions of birds travel remembered flyways, “stopping over” to rest and replenish along the way. Their ritual of transition provides us with an opportunity to watch, listen, and notice the changes happening in our communities.
Join Nevada Humanities, Black Mountain Institute, Red Rock Audubon Society, and the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve for a poetry workshop with Saretta Morgan. This is an invitation to sit with your awareness of migration, borders, and mobility at various scales. She will review avian migration concepts; engage with texts that emerge through lived experiences of confinement, restriction, and the denial of access; and respond to prompts designed to support you in reflecting however feels best—writing, drawing, bibliomancy, birding, stretching. Suggestions will be offered but how you spend the time is a gift that’s completely up to you.
Snacks will be provided. Please take a notebook and something to write with, and feel free to take a yoga mat or blanket. Parking is free and on-site.
Attendance is free, but registration is required. Space is limited. Registration closes March 23. If the workshop fills, we will start a waiting list.
