Birdies & Beers returns for its 11th year. There's an 18-hole disc golf tournament, open to players of all skill levels, a craft beer garden, and a free concert featuring Jonny Hazard.

Tee times start at 8:00 a.m. and are scheduled every 10 minutes, with the final tee time at noon. The registration fee of $40 gets players a commemorative stainless steel pint cup and complimentary access to the craft beer garden, if they are 21+

The music starts at noon. Arrive early and take blankets or low-back chairs to lounge among the aspen trees. There will be music until 5:00.

Good food, vibrant culture, and significant history ... Those are all things that make up a place we Las Vegans love: Chinatown. Karen Cho's documentary, Big Fight in Little Chinatown, explores the culture in Chinatowns across New York and Canada and how they've endured the COVID-19 pandemic. This weekend, the Nevada Chinese Association and UNLV's Department of Asian American studies are teaming up to give you a free screening of it at the Barrick Museum. The film will lead into a panel discussion about Las Vegas' Asian American community, their development, and impact on the city.

Las Vegas Local and new on the scene comedian and writer Burton Miller is taking his debut show The 40 Year Old Burton on the road this summer with a stop in Las Vegas on Aug. 2. There will be two shows, 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. at Vegas Theatre Company.

Burton’s show — a comedy debut four decades in the making — is a reflection on a deeply religious small-town upbringing, a whiplash career in public service, and the all-too-common and often absurd journey we all need to take to find the road back to ourselves.

On display are drawings, mixed media, and installation artwork by South Korean native and UNLV Visiting Assistant Professor of Art Jung Min. Her works examine the tension between tradition and Western influence. It reflects the discomfort and internal conflict she experiences as part of a younger Korean generation navigating cultural identity, individuality, and shifting values.

July 18 through September 20.
Artist Talk and Reception: Wednesday, September 17.

Don't stop with snapshots — there's plenty more of Nevada to see when you hit the road to a town less traveled, like the five we handily rounded up for your summer road trip consideration.
