CLAES OLDENBURG AND Coosje van Bruggen's "Flashlight" is Las Vegas's most significant work of public art, and art historian Michael Lobel, a leading Pop Art scholar, has prepared a talk that will illuminate its social, political and art historical contexts.
Lobel's talk commemorates the sculpture's 30th anniversary and will be preceded by the screening of van Bruggen's film, "Adirondack Green/Schoolbus Yellow," on the making of the sculpture. A panel discussion with UNLV faculty follows. The free talk is 6 p.m., Friday, Feb. 18 in Artemus Ham Hall on the UNLV campus.
