Building A Sand Mandala

The Sand Mandala is an ancient Buddhist tradition dating back more than 2500 years. Buddhist monks perform specific ceremonies before starting. Then, they will spend days bent over creating one of these colorful and intricate works that consist of buddhist symbols and geometric shapes. Once it's finished, there is a deconstruction ceremony. This represents the transitory life of material things. One Las Vegas artist has finished her sand mandala. We'll learn about the process of creating and destroying one.
