Here’s a sentence we’ve been waiting to say for six years: The Vegas Golden Knights are champions.

Their run to the Stanley Cup started in 2017 a week after the mass shooting on the Las Vegas Strip; they made it several times to the playoffs, and this year won it all.

Along the way, their fans grew. Try to drive down anywhere without seeing a VGK license plate, people wearing their jerseys all year. The team is so beloved, some 200,000 people gathered for its Stanley Cup parade on the Strip last weekend.

We’re talking about everything this team is, what it was and what it’s meant to you.
