As part of a $2 trillion federal aid package, the federal government is making it easier for struggling homeowners to get mortgage relief from lenders.
But for some Nevada homeowners, the aid may be unwanted or come with strings attached.
Over the last two months, homeowners have overwhelmed servicers’ web sites and phone lines seeking information about mortgage forbearance—delaying payments without the risk of foreclosure.
By just asking for information, some homeowners were put into forbearance programs they didn’t want.
