Lawmakers Want More Funding For At-Risk Students

Students who live in poverty and non-native English speakers could receive more funding, if an education task force gets its way.

The panel, which includes several lawmakers, recommends an increase in funding of 50 percent for those student populations. But other lawmakers say the changes can't happen without an overall increase in funding for education.

So how do lawmakers plan to get more funding in the next legislative session? And why are they focusing only on certain types of student?
